Steel Detailing & Modelling

Following an engineer’s design; a 3D model is created utilising a CAD package known as Tekla Structures. Within this model, all steel to steel connections are created in a 3D environment and designed by following closely the approved Eurocodes, third-party specialised design software and our own hand calculations.

This model can be used to create accurate representations of final structures for rendering, to split the project into “lots” for staggered deliveries / procurement & fabrication, create all required assembly and fitting drawings for fabrication, export all parts to NC / CAM / GoDATA files for CNC machining and many other powerful uses even down to summating the total weight, number of holes, bolts or even metres of weld in the whole project.

Structural Design & Calculations

Working closely direct with our clients, architects or builders we can propose and design suitable structural solutions for your project. Once design intent has been established and preliminary setting out approved we can proceed with our final design and create an organised, detailed calculation package consisting of hand calculations and outputs from specialised design software for your information records and building inspection checks.

General Arrangement & Fabrication Drawings

Either starting from scratch or utilising the existing framework proposed by an architect, we can produce general arrangement drawings (GA’s) which indicate the setting out and details of all structural elements. These include wall thicknesses and composition, setting out of floor joists, roof joists, all sarking/panelling and steelwork items, and details of how each should tie into one another.

We can also produce full fabrication packages for steelwork items including shaft, fitting and assembly drawings in addition to all machine files required to fabricate a part.

Sitework & Erection Drawings

Though our GAs contain the lions share of all information required for a project, when steelwork arrives on site you just want to know where it goes. This is where our 3D erection and sitework drawings shine where we include any special details required for installation and mark every part clearly for an easy installment.

3D Modelling from Surveys

We can create models based on setting out provided to us from site surveys and isue them back to you in various 2D and 3D file formats, most commonly PDF, DWG, IFC and DB1. Setting out can simply be measurements and sketches taken by hand all the way to full grid array and point cloud surveys from total stations. We will work closely with the surveyor to ensure we have all information we require to provide the exact information you require.
